Habitat
for Humanity of Kitsap County partners with low income people
and the community to build simple, decent, affordable housing. The
three principle criteria for our home ownership program are:
| • |
a need for simple, decent housing |
| • |
ability to pay a no-profit,
no interest mortgage |
| • |
willingness to be an active
partner with Habitat. |
Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County is “not a hand-out—but
a hand-UP!” Habitat provides the tools, guidance, and support
and it is up to you to use this opportunity to make significant
changes in your life. Your good attitude and hard work
will empower you to overcome challenges and obstacles so that
home ownership will be within your reach. This is how we
work with you to ensure your home ownership experience will be
positive and successful over the long-term.
This means we are an opportunity for you to ‘break the cycle
of poverty’ and become a successful homeowner. It also
means you will face challenges. You will be required to
perform hundreds of Sweat Equity hours; complete education on
budgeting, legal affairs, and home maintenance; work with a housing
counselor to improve your credit; and successfully pay debts,
closing costs, and monthly mortgage payments.
Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County is an equal opportunity
housing provider and complies with federal regulations regarding
housing discrimination. We consider applicants without
regard to their race, religious preference, gender, physical
ability or handicap, familial status, national origin, or any
other categories protected by law.
We do not provide emergency housing, rental assistance, repairs,
or renovations. See Other Community Resources for referrals
to community agencies who handle these issues and more.
